5 Things You Must Know About Online Chat

One of the first things I tried when I got online for the first time was a chat room. For me, it was a matter of exploring something that I thought was very fascinating. When I first discovered the Internet, it was still pretty young, but there were those online who had been around much longer than I. To me, the idea that you could go into an online chat room and talk in real time with people from all over the world was an amazing idea. Little did I know, that no matter how amazing it was, it certainly had its drawbacks.

The first time I went into an online chat, I was met with the brute force of idiocy that thrives on the Internet. I know that sounds a little harsh, but you have to admit that there are some people online who would never survive in society if they acted as they did when they sat behind their computer. These people think of online chat as a way to bully, harassed, and otherwise frighten normal society. It was purely my bad luck that I ran into one of these people the very first time I opened up an online chat.

I was nervous when I entered in the online chat and my name appeared in the list of people in the room. I said hello and I was suddenly attacked by what I can only describe as an idiot. He started saying rude things to me, and I stupidly try to fight back. I learned a huge lesson that day, and perhaps that is why I am so much smarter about online chat rooms today. You have to remember that nothing anyone says to you in a online chat room can be taken seriously, because they really have no idea who you are. They aren’t lashing out at you personally, it just makes them feel like a big person to make someone else feel small.

For the most part, I no longer partake in online chat. The only time I do so is when I enter a room that was made by a friend of mine. I will only go when I know the people in the room are all friends. As far as going into a many of the random online chat rooms you find just about anywhere on the Internet, I find absolutely no desire to do so. For the most part, you have little hope of finding any decent or rational conversation, and for the most part the only good reason to go when it’s for a good laugh, and to remind yourself of how normal you really are.
